What Is Relay in Gem Wallet?

What Is Relay?

Relay is a cross-chain payments and bridging network. Relay solvers deliver funds on the destination network quickly, then settle with the protocol afterwards.

You don't select Relay yourself. When you swap, Gem Wallet compares quotes from all supported swap providers and shows Relay when it offers a route for your pair. The provider is shown on the swap screen before you confirm.

Supported Networks

Gem Wallet uses Relay for cross-chain swaps between: Ethereum and most supported EVM networks, including Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche C-Chain, Linea, zkSync, Blast, Mantle, Celo, Gnosis, Berachain, Sonic, Unichain, World Chain, Ink, Abstract, Monad, Plasma, HyperEVM, X Layer, Sei EVM, Stable, Tempo, Arc, and Robinhood Chain, plus Solana, Bitcoin, TON, and TRON.

Assets: Each network's coin plus supported stablecoins and tokens.

note

A pair only appears when the provider returns a live quote for it. Liquidity, amount limits, and route availability can change at any time.

Refunds

If Relay can't fill your request, it refunds the deposit, usually to your address on the source network.

Track a Relay Swap

  1. Open the swap in Activity.
  2. The status shows Pending while Relay completes the swap, then Completed, Refunded, or Failed.
  3. Open the transaction details and use the Relay link to follow the swap on relay.link.

For what each status means and how long to wait, see What Do Cross-Chain Swap Statuses Mean?. If the swap was refunded, see What Does a Refunded Cross-Chain Swap Mean?.

Need Help With a Swap?

Contact Gem Wallet support from Settings > Support in the app, and include the transaction ID of your swap. Before you share anything, read What Information Is Safe to Give Wallet Support?.

warning

Gem Wallet support will never send you a direct message first, ask for your Secret Phrase or private key, or ask you to send funds to "fix" a swap. Anyone who does is a scammer.
