Why Is a Fiat Provider Unavailable for an Asset?

A fiat provider appears in Gem Wallet only when it currently supports the complete request: Buy or Sell, the selected crypto and network, your country, fiat currency, payment method, and transaction amount.

If any requirement is unsupportedβ€”or the provider does not return a valid quoteβ€”the provider may be absent from the list. This does not mean the asset itself is missing from your wallet.

Check the Selected Asset and Network

Providers map each supported crypto to a specific network. For example, a provider may support USDC on Ethereum but not USDC on another network.

  1. Open the asset in Gem Wallet.
  2. Verify the asset name and network.
  3. Select Buy, or open the Buy screen and switch to Sell where available.
  4. Enter an eligible amount and open the provider list.
  5. Compare the available providers for that exact asset and network.

Do not assume that support for a token symbol includes every blockchain version of that token.

Why a Provider May Not Appear

Common reasons include:

  • Buy or Sell is unsupported β€” a provider can support purchases without supporting sales for the same asset.
  • The asset or network was removed β€” Gem Wallet disables an asset for a provider when that provider no longer includes it in a non-empty current catalog.
  • The country is unsupported β€” providers maintain their own country and regional eligibility lists.
  • The fiat currency is unsupported β€” the selected currency may not have a valid limit and payment-method combination.
  • The amount is outside provider limits β€” minimum and maximum amounts can differ by provider, currency, payment method, and transaction direction.
  • No compatible payment method exists β€” a provider may not offer an eligible card, bank, or other method for the request.
  • The quote failed or expired β€” maintenance, connectivity, liquidity, or a provider-side error can prevent a valid quote.

Gem Wallet does not keep showing a provider for an asset or country after the provider removes it from an updated catalog. This prevents the app from repeatedly requesting a quote for a combination the provider no longer lists.

Try a Different Amount

The amount must satisfy both Gem Wallet's input range and the provider's current limits.

  1. Enter a common whole-number fiat amount.
  2. If the app displays a minimum or maximum, adjust the amount into that range.
  3. Reopen the provider list and wait for updated quotes.
  4. Review the amount, fees, payment methods, and crypto total returned by each provider.

For Sell, also confirm that the wallet has enough available crypto for the provider's quoted amount and the blockchain network fee.

Check Buy and Sell Separately

Buy and Sell availability are evaluated separately. A provider shown under Buy may not appear under Sell, and a supported Sell provider may offer only selected assets, countries, payout methods, or amounts.

If the Sell tab itself is missing, no eligible Sell route is currently available for that asset and context. Try another supported asset or check again later rather than sending crypto directly to a provider without an active order.

Check Country, Currency, and Payment Method

Fiat providers are regulated third parties and determine their own geographic coverage. Availability can differ between countries and, in some cases, regions within a country.

Confirm that:

  • Your selected fiat currency is supported.
  • The provider operates in your current country or region.
  • At least one displayed payment or payout method is available to you.
  • Your provider account and identity-verification details match its requirements.

A VPN does not make an unsupported country eligible and may trigger additional provider checks. Use accurate location and identity information.

Refresh the Available Providers

If the combination should be supported:

  1. Confirm that the device has a stable internet connection.
  2. Return to the asset and reopen Buy or Sell.
  3. Change the amount to request fresh quotes.
  4. Update Gem Wallet to the latest available version.
  5. Check the provider's official status or support page for an outage.
  6. Try another eligible provider shown in Gem Wallet.

Provider availability is dynamic. A provider that appeared previously may be absent after changing its asset catalog, country coverage, limits, or service status.

Do Not Use an Old Checkout or Deposit Address

Always begin a new Buy or Sell order from the current Gem Wallet screen. Old checkout links, quotes, Sell orders, and deposit addresses may have expired or may describe a different asset or network.

warning

Before paying or sending crypto, verify the provider, asset, network, amount, receiving address, and any memo or destination tag in the current order. Crypto sent to an incorrect or expired destination may not be credited automatically.

Get Help With a Fiat Transaction

If no order was created, try another supported provider, asset, amount, currency, or payment method.

If an order was already created, use the order reference and contact that fiat provider for help with payment, KYC, refunds, bank transfers, or payouts. Gem Wallet does not process the fiat payment or control the provider's eligibility decision.
