Why Is My Crypto Purchase Still Pending?

A purchase started through Gem Wallet can remain Pending while the fiat provider verifies the payment, completes identity checks, prepares the crypto transfer, or waits for a blockchain transaction to confirm.

Gem Wallet displays the provider's latest available order status, but it does not process the payment or approve the order. The selected fiat provider controls those steps.

Check the Order in Gem Wallet

If you already have an order, you can reproduce this status check without making another purchase:

  1. Select the same wallet used to start the purchase.
  2. Open Buy for an asset.
  3. Select the Activity icon in the upper-right corner.
  4. Find the purchase by its date, asset, fiat amount, and provider.
  5. Check whether it has a Pending or Failed badge.
  6. Select the row to open the provider's official details page when a link is available.
  7. Refresh the history after reviewing the provider status.

Do not create a second order solely to reproduce a Pending status.

Identify Which Stage Is Pending

The appropriate next step depends on where the order stopped:

Payment Is Pending or Authorized

A card authorization can appear before the provider captures the payment. Bank transfers can also take time to reach or be matched to an order.

  • Check the provider's order page and confirmation email.
  • Confirm that any required bank reference was entered correctly.
  • Distinguish a temporary authorization from a completed charge.
  • Do not submit repeated payments while the first is unresolved.

Your bank can explain whether a payment is pending, declined, reversed, or completed, but only the fiat provider can confirm how that payment maps to its crypto order.

Verification Is Pending

The provider may require identity, address, payment ownership, or source-of-funds verification.

  • Complete requests only through the provider's official checkout or secure support page.
  • Check Spam or Junk for verification emails.
  • Make sure submitted details match the payment method and provider account.
  • Contact the provider if a review remains open or a document cannot be submitted.

Gem Wallet cannot approve or bypass a provider's KYC review.

Provider Processing Is Pending

After accepting payment, the provider may still be acquiring the crypto, running compliance checks, or preparing the blockchain transfer. Check the provider page for an estimated status and avoid starting a duplicate order.

If the provider has not created a blockchain transaction ID, the delay remains with the provider rather than the destination blockchain.

Blockchain Delivery Is Pending

If the provider supplies a transaction ID:

  1. Confirm that the transaction ID belongs to the expected network.
  2. Open it on that network's blockchain explorer.
  3. Check the destination address, asset, amount, and confirmation status.
  4. Compare the destination with the receiving address in Gem Wallet.

An unconfirmed blockchain transaction must be confirmed by its network. The provider or Gem Wallet cannot guarantee a specific confirmation time.

The Provider Says Complete but Crypto Is Missing

If the provider marks the order complete:

  1. Obtain the blockchain transaction ID from the provider.
  2. Verify that the explorer shows a successful transaction.
  3. Confirm that it used the correct network and your complete Gem Wallet address.
  4. Select the correct wallet in Gem Wallet.
  5. Enable the delivered token if it is not already visible.
  6. Refresh the asset and update Gem Wallet to the latest available version.

If the explorer shows the correct successful transfer but the balance is not displayed, follow Why Is My Crypto Balance Incorrect? or What to Do When a Token Is Missing.

The Payment Was Charged but the Order Failed

A failed order and a settled card charge require the provider to investigate. The payment may still be a temporary authorization that the bank later releases, or the provider may need to issue a refund.

Collect the provider order number, payment date, fiat amount, payment descriptor, and proof of the charge with sensitive information hidden. Contact the provider before filing a chargeback so it can identify the order and explain the payment or refund state.

When to Contact the Fiat Provider

Contact the provider when:

  • Payment or verification remains pending.
  • The provider accepted payment but supplied no crypto transaction ID.
  • The order is failed but the payment appears completed.
  • A promised reversal or refund has not arrived.
  • The provider's status conflicts with its email or payment record.

Use How to Find a Fiat Provider Order Number to gather the reference, then follow How to Contact a Fiat Provider for official support channels.

Contact Gem Wallet through Settings > Support only when the issue is with the wallet interface or when a successful on-chain transfer to the correct address is not reflected in the app. Never share your recovery phrase, private key, passcode, or one-time authentication codes.
