Does Gem Wallet Charge Fees?
Is Gem Wallet Free?â
Yes. Gem Wallet is free to download and use. Creating or importing wallets, holding crypto, and receiving crypto cost nothing.
Most fees you see in the app go to the blockchain or to a third-party provider, not to Gem Wallet. Gem Wallet only charges a small fee on swaps and perpetual trades, and it's always included in what you see before you confirm.
Fees by Actionâ
| Action | Fees you pay | Who receives them |
|---|---|---|
| Receive | None | â |
| Send | The network fee | The blockchain's validators or miners |
| Swap | Network fee, the provider's or pool's fees, and Gem Wallet's swap fee | The blockchain, the swap provider, and Gem Wallet. See What are Gem Wallet Swap Fees? |
| Buy or sell with fiat | The provider's processing and network fees, shown in its quote | The fiat provider, such as MoonPay or Transak |
| Stake | Network fees, and the validator's commission on your rewards | The blockchain and the validator. See What Are Staking Validators? |
| Perpetuals | Hyperliquid's trading fees, funding, and a small builder fee for orders placed through Gem Wallet | Hyperliquid, other traders, and Gem Wallet. See Hyperliquid Perpetuals on Gem Wallet |
| Use a dApp through WalletConnect | Network fees, plus any fees the dApp charges | The blockchain and the dApp |
Where to See Fees Before You Confirmâ
- The confirmation screen shows the Network Fee for every transaction. Tap it to see the fee in the network's coin and, on some networks, choose a faster or custom fee.
- Swap quotes already include the provider's and Gem Wallet's fees in You Receive. Open Details to see the provider, rate, and Minimum Received.
- Buy and Sell quotes come from the provider and show its rate. The provider's page shows its full fee breakdown before you pay.
Network Fees Never Go to Gem Walletâ
Network fees are set by each blockchain and paid to the people who run it. Gem Wallet only estimates them. They can be higher when a network is busy, and some networks, like Solana, XRP Ledger, and Polkadot, also require a small minimum balance.
Watch Out for Fake Feesâ
Gem Wallet never asks you to pay a fee to unlock, verify, upgrade, or withdraw your wallet, and support will never ask you to send crypto to them. Anyone who does is a scammer. See What to Do If Your Crypto Wallet Is Compromised?.
