Common Swap Issues and Solutions​

Before You Swap​

Check these before initiating a swap to avoid common issues:

  • βœ… Sufficient gas β€” ensure you have enough native coin (e.g. ETH, BNB, SOL) to cover network fees on top of the swap amount
  • βœ… Check the rate β€” review the exchange rate and estimated output before confirming
  • βœ… Slippage tolerance β€” keep slippage at a reasonable level; too high means you may receive much less than expected
  • βœ… Minimum swap amount β€” some providers require a minimum amount to process a swap
  • βœ… Supported assets β€” verify both tokens are supported by the swap provider

Common Swap Issues and Solutions​

Here are the most common Swap issues that you might encounter while using the app. Click on an issue below to jump to the suggested solution.

Swap Transaction Failed​

Issue:
Occasionally, swap transactions fail, resulting in an error message or a pending status that doesn’t complete.

Solution:
Ensure you have enough balance to cover transaction fees and the amount needed for the swap. Verify that the assets you’re swapping are supported by both your wallet and the swap provider. Check for any minimum swap amounts, as some providers require a minimum to process the transaction.

Incorrect Swap Amount Received​

Issue:
After completing a swap, you receive a different amount than expected.

Solution:
Review the exchange rate, as slight variations may occur due to price fluctuations during the transaction. Make sure you haven’t set a custom slippage tolerance that’s too high, as this can result in receiving less than expected. If the discrepancy is significant and cannot be explained by slippage or price volatility, go to Settings > Support in Gem Wallet for AI-assisted troubleshooting.

Delayed Swap Confirmation​

Issue:
Your swap transaction is taking longer than usual to confirm.

Solution:
Check if the network you’re swapping on is congested, which can cause delays. Refresh your wallet or app to ensure the latest status is displayed. If the swap remains unconfirmed for an extended period despite normal network conditions, go to Settings > Support in Gem Wallet for AI-assisted troubleshooting.

Pending Swap Transaction​

Issue:
Your swap transaction is stuck in β€œPending” and does not complete.

Solution:
Wait a few minutes, as some swaps can take time to process. Avoid attempting multiple swaps in rapid succession, as this can cause further delays. If the transaction remains pending for an unusually long period, go to Settings > Support in Gem Wallet and provide the public transaction ID.

Swap Option Unavailable for Certain Assets​

Issue:
You’re unable to swap certain assets or see limited swap options within your wallet.

Solution:
Check if the asset is supported by the swap provider. Not all tokens are available for swapping on every platform. Verify if there are any regional restrictions or limitations for specific assets in your area. If the asset is supported but still unavailable, update Gem Wallet and use Settings > Support for AI-assisted troubleshooting.

High Slippage Impacting Swap Results​

Issue:
High slippage settings may result in receiving much less than expected during the swap.

Solution:
Set a reasonable slippage tolerance based on the asset’s volatility. For highly volatile assets, consider lowering the swap amount or checking the live exchange rate before proceeding. Review your settings, as certain default slippage tolerances may be higher than needed.
