How to Check a Transaction's Final Network Fee
Where to See the Fee You Paidâ
- Open Activity, or open the asset and scroll to its transactions.
- Tap the transaction.
- Look at the Network Fee row.
The fee shows the same way as on the confirmation screen: as a value, such as $0.01, or in the network's coin, such as 0.000021 ETH, when the coin has no price. Tap the row to see both the amount in the coin and its value.
Why the Final Fee Can Differ from the Confirmation Screenâ
The confirmation screen shows the fee Gem Wallet expects. The final fee is set by the network when the transaction is processed, so they don't always match:
| Network type | What happens |
|---|---|
| Ethereum and other EVM networks | Gem Wallet signs with room above the current base fee, so the transaction doesn't get stuck if the fee rises before it's included. You only pay the actual base fee of the block, plus the tip, so the final fee is often lower than shown. A transaction that uses less gas than estimated also costs less. |
| Bitcoin and similar networks | The fee is fixed when you sign, so the final fee matches what you confirmed. |
| Solana, TRON, and others | The fee is usually close to the estimate. On TRON, a transaction can use your account's free bandwidth or energy, which lowers what you pay in TRX. |
A transaction that fails still pays a network fee, because the network did the work of processing it. See Why Was I Charged a Network Fee for a Failed Transaction?
How to Check the Exact Fee on a Block Explorerâ
The block explorer shows the exact fee in the network's coin.
- Open the transaction in Gem Wallet.
- Tap View on at the bottom to open it in the explorer.
- Look for the fee field. Explorers name it differently:
- Transaction Fee or Txn Fee on Etherscan-style explorers. They also show Gas Used and the Gas Price you paid.
- Fee on Solana, Bitcoin, and most other explorers.
- Fee, Energy, and Bandwidth on TRON explorers.
To find the transaction ID, see How to Find a Crypto Transaction ID.
Who Receives the Network Feeâ
The network fee goes to the blockchain's validators or miners, not to Gem Wallet. A swap's fees to providers and to Gem Wallet are separate and already included in the swap quote. See Does Gem Wallet Charge Fees?
