What Is Maya Protocol in Gem Wallet?
What Is Maya Protocol?â
Maya Protocol (MAYAChain) is a decentralized cross-chain liquidity network built on the same design as THORChain. It swaps native assets between blockchains without wrapped tokens. Gem Wallet sends your deposit to Maya with a memo that tells it what to swap and where to deliver.
You don't select Maya Protocol yourself. When you swap, Gem Wallet compares quotes from all supported swap providers and shows Maya Protocol when it offers a route for your pair. The provider is shown on the swap screen before you confirm.
Supported Networksâ
Gem Wallet uses Maya Protocol for cross-chain swaps between: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Cardano, Dash, Zcash, and THORChain (RUNE).
Assets: Each network's coin, plus USDC and USDT on Ethereum and selected tokens on Arbitrum.
A pair only appears when the provider returns a live quote for it. Liquidity, amount limits, and route availability can change at any time.
Refundsâ
If Maya can't complete your swap, it refunds the deposit to your source address on the original network, minus network fees.
Track a Maya Protocol Swapâ
- Open the swap in Activity.
- The status shows Pending while Maya Protocol completes the swap, then Completed, Refunded, or Failed.
- Open the transaction details and use the MayaScan link to follow the swap on mayascan.org.
For what each status means and how long to wait, see What Do Cross-Chain Swap Statuses Mean?. If the swap was refunded, see What Does a Refunded Cross-Chain Swap Mean?.
Need Help With a Swap?â
Contact Gem Wallet support from Settings > Support in the app, and include the transaction ID of your swap. Before you share anything, read What Information Is Safe to Give Wallet Support?.
Gem Wallet support will never send you a direct message first, ask for your Secret Phrase or private key, or ask you to send funds to "fix" a swap. Anyone who does is a scammer.
