How Do Transaction Push Notifications Work?
Gem Wallet can send a push notification when a tracked blockchain transaction settles. Notifications help you see whether an outgoing action succeeded or failed and when an incoming asset reached a wallet.
Selecting a transaction notification opens that transaction's details in the correct wallet. You can review its status, amount, date, network fee, sender or recipient, memo when present, and blockchain-explorer link.
A notification is a convenience, not the source of transaction status. The blockchain and its explorer determine whether a transaction is pending, successful, failed, or reverted.
Turn On Transaction Notificationsâ
- Open Gem Wallet.
- Select Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Turn on Push Notifications.
- Allow notifications when your device displays its permission prompt.
Both the Gem Wallet toggle and the device-level notification permission must be enabled. If you previously denied permission, selecting the option again may open the system settings so you can allow notifications for Gem Wallet.
For screenshots of the settings flow, see How to Configure Your Gem Wallet Settings.
When Does Gem Wallet Send a Transaction Notification?â
A pending transaction is tracked until the network settles it. Gem Wallet sends the transaction notification after the result becomes available:
- Successful outgoing transaction: subscribed devices receive a notification describing the completed action.
- Successful incoming transaction: subscribed devices receive a notification that an asset or NFT was received.
- Failed or reverted outgoing transaction: the sending wallet receives a failure notification.
- Failed incoming transaction: no notification is sent because no asset arrived.
A settled transaction can notify every device subscribed to that wallet. Devices must have Gem Wallet notifications enabled and remain registered for push delivery.
Which Activities Can Generate Notifications?â
The notification text depends on the completed action:
| Activity | Successful notification | Failed or reverted notification |
|---|---|---|
| Sent crypto | Asset and amount sent, with the recipient | Transfer failed |
| Received crypto | Asset and amount received, with the sender | No notification |
| Sent or received NFT | NFT sent or received | Transfer failed for an outgoing NFT |
| Swap | Source and destination assets and amounts | Swap failed |
| Token approval | Approved token and spender | Token approval failed |
| Stake or earn deposit | Staked asset and amount | Stake failed |
| Unstake | Unstaked asset and amount | Unstake failed |
| Redelegate | Redelegated asset and amount | Redelegation failed |
| Claim rewards | Claimed asset and amount | Claim rewards failed |
| Staking or earn withdrawal | Withdrawn asset and amount | Withdrawal failed |
| TRON freeze or unfreeze | Frozen or unfrozen TRX amount | Freeze or unfreeze failed |
| Smart-contract call | Sent asset and destination | Smart contract failed |
Filled perpetual orders can also create activity notifications for supported open and close results. Modifying an existing perpetual order or activating an asset does not generate a transaction push.
What Opens When I Select a Notification?â
A transaction notification opens the matching Transaction Details screen. If the notification belongs to another wallet, Gem Wallet opens the transaction under that wallet rather than replacing it with the wallet currently selected in the app.
The details remain tied to the transaction they were opened for, even if you switch wallets while the screen is open. Use View on to verify the result on the blockchain explorer.
Why Did I Not Receive a Notification?â
Check the following:
- Open Settings > Notifications and confirm Push Notifications is on.
- Open the device's settings and confirm notifications are allowed for Gem Wallet.
- Check that Focus, Do Not Disturb, battery restrictions, or background restrictions are not suppressing notifications.
- Confirm that the wallet containing the transaction is present on this device.
- Check Activity to see whether the transaction is still pending.
- Open the transaction on the correct blockchain explorer and verify whether it settled.
- Confirm the device has an internet connection.
- Update Gem Wallet to the latest available version.
If notification registration shows an error, keep the device online and turn Push Notifications off and on once to retry. Do not submit another blockchain transaction merely to test notification delivery.
To reproduce notification navigation safely, use an existing settled transaction notification still available in the device's notification center. Select it and verify that Gem Wallet opens the matching transaction details. No new transaction is required.
Why Is There No Failure Notification for an Incoming Transfer?â
An incoming transfer appears only when another wallet submits a transaction to your address. If that transaction fails or reverts, nothing reaches your wallet, so Gem Wallet does not send an incoming failure notification.
The sender may receive a failure notification for their outgoing transaction. Ask the sender for the public transaction ID and verify it on the correct blockchain explorer.
Are Transaction Notifications the Same as Price Alerts?â
No. Transaction notifications report wallet activity such as transfers, swaps, approvals, and staking actions. Price alerts are configured separately for selected assets under Settings > Notifications > Price Alerts.
Disabling a price alert does not necessarily disable transaction notifications, and enabling transaction notifications does not automatically create price alerts.
Protect Notification Privacyâ
Transaction notifications may display asset names, amounts, action types, and shortened addresses on the lock screen. Use your device's notification-preview settings if you do not want those details visible while the device is locked.
